Wieden + Kennedy
"The mind once stretched by a new idea, never returns to its original dimensions" Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Creativity is the process of combining and connecting the different concepts that make up the mind, this gives shape and value to our thoughts and is projected as an idea at the moment we need to solve a situation with a particular purpose.
Materializing this concept in architecture arises from the need to project the innovative values of W+K in an envelope that is both discursive and functional in an architectural sense.
For the offices of the Mexico City-based advertising agency Wieden + Kennedy, it was necessary to materialize the "power of an idea", building the metaphor of the space from the company's creative processes.
The assignment consisted of the intervention of the offices with a proposal that would generate and represent the identity and character of the advertising agency. The "functional artistic" intervention generates space and generates function.
The roof structure was generated from a series of interconnected wooden trusses capable of materializing abstract volumetries.
The basis of inspiration was the cocoon, the place where ideas are born, which is then transformed into lattices, bookcases and desks throughout the office. However, it is in the boardroom where a powerful analogy is present, being the place where ideas are conceived.
